For the Thumamah Road West corridor the ADA required a unique character. We were invited to develop the landscape design. For the design philosophy, we were contemplating road and the elements as an urban art object. Instead of “art and an intervention”, we used landscape design as intervention on road elements, such as New Jersey Barriers, Gantry Signs etc, underlining the importance of landscape in the urban environment. We based our theme on a hexagonal cell structure as building blocks for plants and developed a pattern that gave a unifying character to the corridor.
