The junctions of Aruba Road with King Abdulaziz Road, named after the founder of the Kingdom, was to be constructed by the ADA. We developed the cladding and plaza designs for this project. We based the design theme on the historic and traditional cultural elements of the kingdom, such as adobe buildings, traditional tents and the desert landscapes. The underpass walls were an interpretation of adobe walls. The plaza deck on top was turned into a geometric desert landscape. The colours and patterns are reminiscent of traditional tents in the desert.
