Following guidelines from initial environmental studies, the ADA wanted to develop fifty upmarket campsites into the nature park landscape. Locations for campsites were selected to reduce environmental impact. Other considerations included privacy, views into the surroundings and to ensure that the campsite blends into the natural surroundings and natural landscape. The first phase was done with a team on-site, selecting potential sites and documenting these by means of GPS coordinates, including possible access routes. The documented data was then compiled into a general layout drawing. The second phase involved design requirements of individual campsites, adjusting them to the site conditions. Earth mounds were used to create privacy and hide structural facilities such as bathrooms, water tanks, generator rooms and kitchen facilities. Mounds were sown with seeds collected on-site to ensure similar characteristics to surrounding areas.
